Explore coiling techniques -using plain core cord and colourful yarns – to create coiled forms containing voids, distortions and pleasingly organic shapes.
This workshop will allow participants to experiment with coiling to create their own distinctive coiled form. It may or may not result in a functional item (such as a bowl), but it will certainly be eye catching!

Option 1 material fee - Tapestry wool $35.00 (Includes 20 metres of cotton cord, 2xsize 18 chenille needles, 1 x pack of foam-covered wire, 20 skeins DMC tapestry wool, small assortment of embellishments.
Option 2 material fee - Acrylic yarn $18.00(Includes 20 metres of cotton cord, 2xsize 18 chenille needles, 1 x pack of foam-covered wire, approx 100g of 8 ply acrylic wool, small assortment of embellishments.
Alternatively, you can bring all the required items from home and/or supplement with purchases from the tutor during the workshop. 20 metres of cotton cord for use as the core is $9.00 and can be purchased at the workshop.
PARTICIPANTS BRING: Scissors, pen and pencil. If you have - Jewellery pliers and wire cutters. Tutor will bring some to share with the class. $5 for booklet of notes.
Optional additional materials if you have in your stash - ribbons, cords, braids, art yarns, special buttons or beads, fabric scraps, lace, silk, natural items such as dried seed pods, shells with holes and any other trinkets that you would like to incorporate into your coiled piece.
TUTOR BRINGS: Plain Core Cord, Workshop notes (Comprehensive printed and bound notes with colour pictures and diagrams are provided for each participant) at $5.00 per participant provided.
BYO lunch. There are also nice takeaway lunch items at the local shopping centre.
Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Please bring your own lunch. There is a cafe nearby that has a variety of options.
