2019 Awardees
Cat Evans, Rosie Armstrong, Angela Coleman and Ella O'Hart
Angela Coleman has investigated the nature of the connections between memories and clothing through the creation of dresses suggesting the ephemeral nature of both. Ella O’Hart, through the use of a variety of textile techniques and including natural plant dyes, explores how these can contribute to a more holistic approach to textile design. Rosie Armstrong has harnessed weaving to illustrate the decline in insect species, one aspect of the extinction crisis we now find ourselves facing. Cat Evans, whose work in double weave members may remember from last year, has more recently worked to highlight the influence weaving has had on modern computing systems and how that impacts on our daily lives.
