Past projects

Canberra Spinners and Weavers has been creating and exhibiting handmade textiles for over 50 years. We have many talented members who regularly display in galleries around the region. Here are a few of our past projects.

Acoustic fabric for Textile Works

In 2018, members wove yardage to add sound proof boards in our main room and decorate the room at the same time. Members also contributed knitted and crocheted squares of fabric.

50th anniversary celebrations

In 2017 Canberra Spinners and Weavers celebrated our 50th anniversary. We held two major exhibitions to mark the event, both opened by Janet de Boer OAM.

Blinds for Kurrajong

In 2016 members wove window blinds for our previous premises Kurrajong. This was woven on our AVL 16 shaft dobby loom by multiple members. Sadly we had to move out of Kurrajong shortly after the blinds were completed, but they still hang in Textile Works for members to admire.

2018 calendar

In 2017 Canberra Spinners and Weavers members worked together to create a limited edition of 100 calendars for 2018. Every month had a piece of handspun and woven cloth. The calendars were sold to raise money for CSW.

Below are a selection of the weaving draft files in PDF, WIF and DTX file formats.
