Introduction to spinning

Learn to spin with Canberra Spinners and Weavers! Using a spinning wheel, participants will prepare scoured wool fibre, spin yarn and ply to make a yarn suitable to use for knitting or weaving. Classes are relaxed and informal and conducted over 4 3-hour sessions.
 

Participants will learn the whole process from fibre technology, tools and equipment, different types of wool, preparing, spinning and plying fibres. 

 

Participants can hire a spinning wheel from Canberra Spinners and Weavers, or use their own wheel (if it is suitable). If bringing your own wheel it must be checked by the tutor prior to the class, if it is not suitable you will need to hire a wheel. Spinning wheels can be hired at $30 per month (with $100 refundable deposit).
